Join our intensive 4 hours workshop, designed for researchers from all disciplines who want to confidently select the right journal for their manuscripts. Led by  Dr. Ayman Al-Qannah and Prof. Eyad Qunaibi, this practical workshop focuses on evaluating journal credibility, understanding indexing and key metrics, avoiding predatory and hijacked journals, and using journal-finder and AI tools effectively.

Through real examples and live demonstrations, participants will learn a structured approach to journal selection and apply it directly to participant-submitted manuscripts from different research fields.

3. How to verify journal indexing: Practical steps to check whether a journal is truly indexed in Scopus or Web of Science.

4. New and emerging journals: How to assess journals that do not yet have an impact factor or CiteScore.

5. Matching your manuscript to the right journal: Using journal-finder tools to identify journals that fit your topic, scope, and publication goals.

6. Avoiding predatory journals and common submission mistakes: Red flags, hijacked-journal checks, correspondence traps, and practical errors that researchers should avoid before submission.

7. Using AI in journal selection: How AI can help summarize journal information, compare options, and identify possible risks.

8. Estimating real review time: How to use available information and AI tools to judge whether a journal’s review timeline is realistic.

9. Common mistakes in journal selection: Practical examples of poor journal choices and how to avoid them.

Meet Your Instructors

Dr. Ayman Al-Qannah

a pharmaceutical scientist and expert consultant for the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), serving as an academic editor for the Q1 journal PLOS ONE. A certified medical statistician, he is also an international examiner for TSHP and ASHP, and an active member of key organizations including ASPEN, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC). He sits on multiple editorial boards, reviews for numerous scientific journals, and has authored 49 publications and three book chapters.

Prof. Eyad Qunaibi

A Professor of Pharmacology and a leading specialist in the field, graduating first in his class from JUST and earning his Ph.D. from the University of Houston with research at the Texas Medical Center - USA. With over 20 years of academic and research experience, he holds two wound-healing patents and has Tens of publications with about 1000 citations. He reviewed the renowned Lippincott’s Pharmacology Reviews (7th ed.) and authored the illustrated student guide PharmMedTerm.
